Our partners... Enaahtig Healing Lodge and Learning Centre is Minwaawshin Lodge's First Nation Youth Project in Victoria Harbour, Ontario. |Enaahtig" is an Ojibwe word for Maple tree. It reflects the gift of healing provided by the Tree of Life. "Enaahtig" is a place of counsel, traditional teachings, fasting and the sweat lodge. It is a place of ceremonies for healing and celebration, where people learn to live in a good way. Our project... The Healthy Relationships Peer Education Project, created by the First Nation youth during the March Break Leadership Training Program, is an Honour Blanket depicting their best hopes for healthy equal relationships. Under the guidance of Youth Workers Sarah Starr Toner, Val Wood and Roberta Katapaytuk, the youth of Enaahtig will engage in a range of activities based on the four directions of the Medicine Wheel and the Seven Sacred Teachings. Through group-based activities including medicine picking, horse-back riding, camping, talking circles, memory box workshops, video discussion groups and smudging ceremonies, youth aged eight to 14 can experientially learn the skills for healthy equal relationships. |
